As the article stated, if there were no categories in sport only young men would win prizes. Women's sports means "female sports". "Female" means people with no y chromosome. End of story.
One of the problems with arguments for including trans athletes in women's sports is that it becomes unclear why there should be women's categories at all. Real "inclusion" would mean that there would just be one team, and everybody can try out for it. Good luck!
One team would involve EXCLUSION of many, many people. The whole point of sport categories, as I say at the beginning of my piece is to INCLUDE more people - smaller people (weight classes), disabled people (paralympics), etc. True inclusion of a diversity of people REQUIRES sports classes. Else, as I quote the Women’s Sports Policy Working Group saying, young men would win it all.
