***WOMEN-ONLY ONLINE EVENT***
UPDATE: Videos of this event now available!
Sunday, September 10th, 5:30-7pm US Eastern Time (4:30 Central, 3:30 Mountain, 2:30 Pacific, 10:30pm BST.)
An online event via Zoom featuring: Max Dashu, Fran Luck (host and producer, Joy of Resistance: Multicultural Feminist Radio @ WBAI), feminist lawyer and podcaster Elizabeth Hungerford (Notes on Feminism and the Culture Wars), and writer Katherine Acosta (shesrightyouknow).
Discussants will include Kitty Robinson (Are You Asking Why), lawyer Kathleen Kelly, and activist Shani Handel. Audience questions will be accepted in the chat.
You are invited to a zoom panel discussion exploring feminist opposition to working with the radical right. In recent years, some self-avowed radical feminist groups have championed working with far right politicians and organizations affiliated with the Council for National Policy, such as Alliance Defending Freedom, Concerned Women for America, Heritage Foundation, and Independent Women’s Forum, to push back on the problems of gender identity policy.
While concerns about pediatric medical transitioning, the unfairness of biological males in women’s sport, and the dangers of housing trans-identified males in women’s prisons - among other issues - are pressing and valid, our discussion will re-center feminism in its original leftist principles and analyze why alliances with the far right are strategically unsound and antithetical to women’s interests.
Join Zoom Meeting on Sunday, September 10th; 5:30 US Eastern (BST 10:30pm).
